Accordion Autumn. Vivaldi Still Rocks!

For those of you lucky enough to have the smell of burning autumn leaves in your nostrils, this young man will give you his best rendition of a favorite of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Wonderful to have an 18th century Venitian priest played four centuries later by a boy in a room facing a $29.95 videocam. The libretto of this work reads aloud like colorful falling leaves.

Autumn Concerto in F Major

Allegro

"Celebra il Vilanel con balli e Canti
Del felice raccolto il bel piacere
E del liquor de Bacco accesi tanti
Finiscono col Sonno il lor godere"

Adagio molto

"Fa ch' ogn' uno tralasci e balli e canti
L' aria che temperata da piacere,
E la Staggion ch' invita tanti e tanti
D' un dolcissimo Sonno al bel godere."

Allegro
"I cacciator alla nov' alba a caccia
Con corni, Schioppi, e canni escono fuore
Fugge la belua, e Seguono la traccia;
Gia Sbigottita, e lassa al gran rumore
De' Schioppi e canni, ferita minaccia
Languida di fuggir, ma oppressa muore."

Unfortunately the translation posted
in my comment below does leaves a hurt.

Allegro
The peasant celebrates with song and dance the harvest safely gathered in.
The cup of Bacchus flows freely, and many find their relief in deep slumber.

Adagio molto
The singing and the dancing die away
as cooling breezes fan the pleasant air,
inviting all to sleep
without a care.

Allegro
The hunters emerge at dawn,
ready for the chase,
with horns and dogs and cries.
Their quarry flees while they give chase.
Terrified and wounded, the prey struggles on,
but, harried, dies.

Good morning, Jacques. A delightful start for the day. I do so miss the autumn colors and smells! And the italian language is one of the most beautiful.

WHAT AN ACCORDIAN PLAYER! REMINDS ME OF ME, WHEN I WAS A YOUNGSTER. DO YOU REMEMBER DICK CANTINO, THE ACCORDIAN PLAYER? USE TO WATCH HIM ON T.V. AND I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE ACCORDIAN AND THE FOLKS BOUGHT ME A REAL NICE ONE, NOT AS BIG AS THIS GUY'S ACCORDIAN.
HAD LESSON AND WAS IN FORTH GRADE. WHAT HAPPENS, I FALL IN SCHOOL AND BREAK MY ARM. END OF LESSONS AND ACCORDIAN. TIME MARCHS ON AND AGAIN IN SEVENTH GRADE I DECIDE TO RESUME ACCORDIAN LESSONS. AGAIN, HAD A BIKE ACCIDENT AND BROKE OTHER ARM. END OF ACCORDIAN LESSONS AND THOUGHT OF EVERY PLAYING THE ACCORDIAN. STILL LOVE THE SOUND OF AN ACCORDIAN, BUT GAVE IT UP AS A BAD OMEN. WHO KNOWS, I MIGHT HAVE BEEN AS GOOD OR BETTER THEN THIS YOUNG MAN...........

Greets, Mr. J.

I just wanted to bop in and say thanks for the great music posts of late. Including this week's survey on "Caballo Viejo" (that's a lot of songs to choose from!!) Unique survey format.

Somehow I keep missing the survey results, which makes voting a bit like a Bush election. I'm sure it's my fault for not following the elections more closely.

Camille, do politics create stalkers?

Jacques, thanks again for the polls, posts, and wall space. Une fois un architecte toujours un architecte!
