Don't forget that Ron Paul's campaign asked for $500,000 over the last 7 days of the quarter. They got $1.2 Million dollars instead.
Still think he's got no support? Ask Mike Huckabee what he made this quarter. Or John McCain. Or Tom Tancredo.

It's not a shock if you're been paying attention, and not blindly accepting to spoon-fed garbage from CNN that McCain is a so-called "top tier" candidate. Gimme a break. At least Paul's getting some exposure, but a little more objective reporting would be especially nice, CNN, rather than the dismissive "shock" . . . but I suppose you will be shocked when we elect President Paul, too, although the fundamentals are clearly there for all to see, everywhere.

I am for Hillary, but Ron Paul is probably the only repub I will even give an audience to. Out of all the Republican candidates, he is the only one I would even consider voting for, because he has the experience and common sense to make this a better country.
Why can't all repubs be like this? The current crop makes me want to vomit.

It's pretty clear why Ron Paul is doing so well.
He's the only Republican who opposes the war. He opposed the decision to go to war in 2003 and now he wants to get our troops home as fast as possible.
If RP had more mainstream views on other issues, he'd be at the top of the Republican heap.
As it is, though, he's a voice of sanity in a Republican Party that's gone war-crazy.

That is quite an accomplishment for Congressman Paul to have more than doubled what he raised from the 2Q. (Especially with other candidates raising significantly less during the 3Q) Perhaps this is the first sign that traditional Republican Orthodoxy of the last 7 years is coming undone and an anti-war, fiscally conservative and pro civil liberties candidate might make a legitimate run for President. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have an anti-war Democrat run against an anti-war Republican in ’08?

Cash on Hand is the important number. Does CNN have this, and will it compare this to other canidates. I find the amount a candiate can raise not important. But how much they spend, and how wisely they spend it important. A lot of these candiates spend like drunken sailors. Whats to stop them from doing it when they get in the white house. Is anyone really happy with the amount of debt this country is in?

Polls don't really take into account his actual base. Lets look at the #s:
1-They only poll registered Republicans who voted in the primaries. So that takes out all the young supporters
2-It takes out all people who were independant/3rd party
3-Half the time polls don't even mention him by name. Or put him in a secondary subtree.
I would SERIOUSLY be surprised if Ron Paul does not end up with the most individual donors out of all Republicans.
+ You have to take into account that he is the only one who actually improved on his Q2 numbers.
Paul: Fundraising up 114%
Romney: Fundraising down 29%
Guilliani: Fundraising down 40%
McCain: Fundraising down 55%
And I think he'll be fairly high in Cash on hand…since going into Q4 he has $5,300,000 COH…which should be higher than even Mitt…once you take out all the debt he has

I think this will prove to be much more impressive when the actually number of contributors are revealed. I am willing to bet Paul doubles McCain in number of unique contributors. This will show that he has more support than the mass media candidates, but doesn't have the deep pocket support that the mass media helps bring out. Maybe CNN and the other media giants will start gfiving him equal press time now and we can really see his campaign shock people.

And that $5 million doesn't count all the FREE campaigning he's getting from thousands of supporters.
To put it in perspective, I run a meetup group of 19 members and we have spent nearly $700, not counting our time. So add another $700 for our time and another $600 since we're a below-average sized group, multiply by 950 meetup groups nationwide and you get $1.9 million.
No doubt about it, he's top tier.

To James in Arizona: According to newsmeat.com, George Saros has not made any donations to Ron Paul's campaign. In fact, most of Mr. Saros' donations have been to the DNC or Barack Obama's campaign. Where did you get this information? Secondly, if you've listened to Dr. Paul's comments regarding the Executive Branch's agencies, it is clear that he wants to eliminate the beaurocracies and red tape; not necessarily all the agencies and departments themselves.

As all can see, Dr. Paul HAS a passionate and growing support, among the American people. It is the mainstream media and their bogus polls that have it wrong. Now in addition to fighting for airtime on bias mainstream media the campaign must also now deal with the GOP changing the rules for voting in primaries of some states, to further hamper Dr. Paul's efforts. Do not sit on the sidelines……register Republican so that you can vote in your primary without any problems. Make sure your voice is heard.

Actually, he is what the Republican party is. The party has been hi-jacked as of late. Many are afraid of a Ron Paul presidency because the liberty he espouses also carries a requirement of personal responsibility. He is in essence a libertarian which the 'traditional' Republican party was quite like.
With the dismantling of many of these government bureaucracies (of which there should be more than just CIA, FBI, etc.) the nany state will diminish greatly and it will be up to individuals to make their own way!
I love his principles, I only wish more of my fellow countrymen did too!.
In the debates he always states where he stands. In the last one he actually admitted during a question that he had changed his stance on the death penalty. If you look at his record, he is extremely consistent, a far cry from the poll driven candidates. You know who I mean!

"Ron Paul's 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney's fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent."

Dr. Paul is not in the wrong party. Bush and his cronies are in the wrong party. Historically, they have no place in the Republican party. They are neo-conservatives - ex-Trotskyite, big-government socialists who switched parties from the Democrats to the Republicans in the '60s. George Soros can only contribute 2300 per election cycle. I seriously doubt there are 501/3c's donating to his campaign.
I've dontated quite a bit to Ron Pauls campaign myself. I also plan on attending the meetup groups.
The grounds are shaking and it's really strange, although obvious, why the mainstream is trying to downplay him.
Just google Ron Paul or see how many supporters there are. There are FAR more websited dedicated to Ron Paul. I just hope we can blow away those fake polls and crank it out election cycle. We'll know in a few months if our elections are rigged.

Ron Paul wants to get rid of excessive, bloated, inefficient government that has become too large for its own good. Most of human history we have done just fine without our current overgrown government babysitter. Let the states handle more, let the Federal government handle FAR LESS, and get the international banking families, Israel, the Vatican, and the mafia OUT OF OUR GOVERNMENT NOW! They do not represent us. If they want to buy a country, why don't they just buy some land in the Ukraine, start their Lucifer-worshipping society, and leave the USA alone already?

He is only low in corporate run polls controlled by those who fear a candidate who will fight to clean up Washington's act. He is the most reasonable sounding person running today. I don't agree with him 100% on everything, but he blows away the other candidates in ideas, honesty and integrity. Even if he wins congress will fight to maintain the status quo of doing work for the rich and ignoring the people. But it will be a start. He has my vote.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Ron Paul is the only candidate the GOP can win the white house with. Hardcore republicans will never vote for Hillary (who is the most likely Dem. Candidate). So they'll vote for him if he's nominated. Most Dems. want out of Iraq and none of the top Dem. Candidates are willing to do that anytime soon, so he'd actually attract Democratic votes as well as Independents and Libertarians.
Plus, look at his voting record, he's practically untouchable.

The key thing here is not only did he raise that much, he did it on the donations of the people, rather than big businesses like Clinton & Obama. This money was literally raised $25 to $50 at a time by real people who actually want to see change in America. That makes this accomplishment even THAT MORE AMAZING!!!

Ron Paul doesn't accept contibutions from corporation, labor union or national banks. He only excepts contributions from individuals. If you take away the contributions to the other candadites from the gruops, I think you will find the numbers very similiar.

I'm not a Republican but am impressed with this guy. That may sound strange, but he is honest, consistent and actually true to his convictions. He is a true conservative. I can respect that. Even if he were President, I'd be very comfortable. I say this as a progressive - at least you know what you are getting. Unlike so many Republicans today who say they are social conservative but then hire hookers, try to get with men in public restrooms or chase young boys! Or say they are fiscally conservative but then run up record debt, increase Medicare entitlement and spend drunkingly on war! I respect Ron Paul - would probably vote for him over 3 of the 8 Dem candidates (and I'm a Democrat!)

Noone has mentioned Ron Paul's opposition to the North American Union which will essentially remove any borders between Mexico, the US and Canada. This is all being done very secretly behind the scenes and includes the building of the NAFTA highway from the Pacific coast of Mexico into the heartland of the US and then into Canada. They are already printing the coins which will be known as the Amero!!!! This is serious and if it is not stopped now there will be no stopping it in a year. Ask your own senators and representatives whether they support this or whether they are working to stop it. We are dedicated Democrats who will be voting for Ron Paul because noone is talking about the important issues except for Ron Paul.

I am surprised that Ron Paul is still in the single digits because at least twice that I know of he received more votes than any other candiate when viewers were asked who they felt won the debate.
I believe he has a following because he does not come across like a phony politician like all his rivals. I believe like most of his fans, he is really passionate about helping the country and the middle class and it shows.

I voted for Bill Clinton twice, Al Gore, and John Kerry. I wasn't too enthused doing it but felt it was better to err on the side of social liberties. Now I am a Ron Paul zealot, donating to a candidate for the first time. If you are a convert as well, please make sure to re-register as a Republican so that you can actually vote for him in the upcoming primaries. Otherwise, all of our enthusiasm won't mean squat because he won't survive the primary season and become the official nominee. Then our choices for president will boil down to Guiliani or Clinton. I'd rather chew my own fingers off.

Paul Campaign Raises Over $5,000,000 In Third Quarter

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA - The Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign raised $5,080,000 during the third quarter of 2007. That is an impressive 114 percent increase from the second quarter.
Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.
"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity," said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."
Ron Paul's 114 percent increase is in stark contrast to the decrease suffered by Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain. Romney's fundraising was down 29 percent. Giuliani was down 40 percent. McCain was down 55 percent.

I have converted close to 200 Democrat voters over to Ron Paul in the last two weeks. Most of these people were Obama or Hillary supporters. Thanks to the Internet and word-of-mouth, Ron Paul will win the primary and the election. His momentum is gaining strength every day. The rest of the candidates cannot hope to win by money alone. They will have to resort to cheating, and we will be watching their every move this time around.

Ron Paul doesn't oppose the war for issues involving human rights or our for our public perception in the world. Instead, he opposes it because he believes in a foreign policy of isolationism. One, where America either ignores or refuses to interject itself to help people being oppressed around the world. Yesterday Ron Paul was one of two congressman who opposed a resolution condemning the heinous actions of the Myanmar junta because he doesn't believe that the United States should get involved. A President like Ron Paul would allow genocide, war, and famine to occur. The world cannot stand for a President who ignores it. We've moved past that.

All the "experts" are really going to be surprised is Dr. Paul runs as a third-party candidate and beats both Clinton and Giuliani. I have been voting since 1980, and so far I have always been choosing between the lesser of two evils. Dr. Paul is the first candidate I support for who he is and what he represents rather than who he is running against. Add up the people like me, throw in the Republicans who reject Giuliani and the Democrats who reject Clinton, and you have a potential winner.

CNN does try to shape the news instead of report it though. Ron Paul is $2M behind Edwards so they make that sound really close by using words such as "just $2M shy of Edwards" when that's nearly 30% less. Obama recieved only 15% "shy" of Hillary's number this quarter and more than her overall but the CNN Headlines were "Hillary Outpaces/Outdone Obama in fundraising". Ok, she did well but I'd say they were just about equal.

Good for Ron Paul. While I admire his integrity and his stances on some issues, I would never vote for him due to our inherent differences. The media has definitely been ignoring him, so hopefully this will prompt it to report more about a very interesting man who has energized voters in ways no other candidate can.

To everyone who think that Ron Paul would be an overly radical or unreasonable president in terms of social programs and spending:
If you have watched him in the debates, post-debate shows, or interviews, he approaches his goals of shutting down government spending in a very practical manner. He has repeatedly said that you cannot shut down programs like Social Security overnight, but it would be a good idea to give young people the choice of opting out while still supporting those who have paid in.
He approaches all problems of overspending this way. He is not naive enough to believe that you can flip a switch and accomplish these goals. However, ignoring them completely and refusing to come up with a viable solution is the alternative that every other candidate proposes.
This country is SUPPOSED to have a very small, restricted federal government. The states are supposed to have more freedom to enact laws, programs, etc. to take care of the needs of their citizens. While federal funding pays for a lot of this, it is definitely reasonable to assume that if the IRS never took the money out of our pockets in the first place, then we could keep the money in our states to pay for the needed programs that address the specific needs of each region/state.
While his ideas sound radical, they are really quite practical, Constitutional, and American at their very core. LIsten to what he says instead of letting your knee-jerk reactions take over and the rhetoric of money and power-hungry demagogues influence you.

Where you and Ron Paul error dramatically is the assumption our Constitution defines the LIMITS of Government. Rather, the Constitution defines the RIGHTS of the people. The American people have the RIGHT to forge a Government "of the people, by the people, for the people"… and yes to PROTECT the people (FBI, CIA, etc).
Your clarion call to stand up for the Constitution (and elect Ron Paul) is akin to telling everyone to abandon their fancy cars/trucks and stand up for the Ford Model T.

It appears that this candidate does have some support. I agree with most of what he stands for, but have been reluctant to get involved due to not hearing very much about him. I guess I assumed he didn't have a chance. I think now I'll have to check him out more closely. If he really will reduce the size of government, restore civil liberties and get us out of Iraq, I just might contribute some money to his fourth quarter total.

I'm a staunch Dem, but have changed my party affiliation to vote for Dr. Paul. Far as I'm concerned, the 2 major parties no longer hold any merit with me, at all.

Ron Paul’s record is clear, and has been for over 20 years. It is factual and it is abundant across the country, but most of the media (especially FOX), the other candidates, and the ruling powers despise and fear him because he stands for truth and he reminds them every time they hear him speak, and look in the mirror at home, of what they have become… lackeys for the military industrial complex, traitors, and domestic terrorists.
Ron Paul threatens everything they stand for, and is the only political voice that is defending American freedom, sovereignty, our way of life, and the Constitution. The media and elite with such attitudes against him, and America, are traitors, and the lowest of humanity.
Is America so asleep at the wheel that they still believe in the Republican v Democrat mythology? Do they really accept what the mainstream media says? Are they so addicted to the mindless pablum government and media put out that they cannot think for themselves, or research the real issues? Have Americans discarded the American dream, selling out their children for couch time, and receiving limited freedoms? Bring out troops home now.

* Ron Paul is not against stem cell research. In fact he wants researchers free to explore that area, and has said so. He voted against federal subsidies as the federal government doesn't have a legal mandate to fund medical research. Want to change that, amend the Constitution to say the Feds need to do medicine.
* Dr. Paul is an OB/GYN. He's delivered lots of babies and is personally against abortion. However he wants to leave that entirely up to the states. California says "abortion is legal", he won't say boo.
* Regarding health care, his experience as a doctor is that patient care is worse in managed care (HMOs), particularly government-run ones. I've seen research to that effect but I will grant it's debateable.

* Ron Paul is the most explicit supporter of free trade between nations. However he's against carefully engineered tariffs and protectionism that give an edge to this company or that.
* I believe I have heard he wants to get rid of the CIA, but he has said in debates and interviews that he wants an intelligence service. I think he's just tired of the CIA overthrowing foreign elected governments (Nicaragua, Iran, etc).

* I guess you forgot that Rep. Paul proposed legislation to fund hunting down Osama bin Laden and was rebuffed. Meanwhile Bush and the rest, once they had used bin Laden as a foil to get Iraq started, say publicly they don't care about the man that attacked us.
I'd love to see more debate on Ron Paul's policy positions. Sadly it seems that due to the media's poor reporting (and in some cases lying) we will have to wait a while for that day.

Thank you Texas Brad, I am now energized again to really advocate the no-income tax idea.
It's hard to phathom, but if we tax only purchases- at a higher rate of course- then people will be paying taxes on what they buy, not what they make. Why don't more people see the sense and smartness of this? I love this idea, because it's truly a fair way for people such as drug dealers and those making an 'underground' kind of income to have to pay into our government. And no more IRS is a thought that should make people happy.

If you read the framers' words and the federalist papers, you'd see that the Constitution was unequivocally designed as a system of limited, defined government. That very idea is repeated time and again both by the men in question as well as early SCOTUS decisions.
Consider also that the Bill of Rights isn't even an original part of the Constitution, and you'll see that the document was created to define the structure and scope of the government. Everything dealing with personal rights came later.
We have drifted away from the government born of the blood and sweat of the forefathers; we have somehow lost hold of the government to which we promised to be bound by and now have a virtually unchecked system of effective decree rather than rule of law (as Congress declares, so shall it be…see the modern application of the interstate commerce clause).
The point? Ron Paul has it right and understands that we must cut back on the encroachments that have hijacked our system of government. If you love the ideals of this country and understand the importance of the rule of law, lend Dr. Paul your support. He is the only candidate with whom you know exactly what it is you're getting: freedom and respect for the individual.

Fred Thompson has no experience, can't debate, willn't last long, minimal grass root support, and pro war. His next quarter funds will decrease after the hollywood regean hype dissapers. Rommney is actually on equal footing as Paul and Rudy as he funded 6 million to his campaign this quarter with a personal loan. Thus, he has same donation amounts as McCain and Pual. He is Morman, Pro-war, Pro-Abortion, Flip-Flopper, and fake. His funds should remain strong with good media exposure. Lastly, Rudy won't last long as people are waking up to the lies surrounding the war and 9/11. He is crossdresser, flip-flops, has no understanding of foriegn policy, bigger NeoCon than Bush. He hasn't released fund, yet, so most likely cooking the books. Further, his politcal future surrounds 9/11 fear machine, which people want to move forward to a 9/12 future. Ron Paul is the ONLY worthy candidate in the Republican party, hands down.
I contributed $175 from four or five donations, plus I ordered a shirt for $18 and ordered 1,000 of each of the two types of "slim jim" information sheets that are available in the store at RonPaul2008.com for an additional $60. That's a total of $253 in Q3.
I've received 500 of each of the "slim jims" and already drove around last Friday evening delivering them to newspaper boxes in my neighborhood. The next 500 will hopefully get here before this weekend so I can continue to make deliveries around the neighborhood. It took me from 3:30am until 6:00am to deliver both sets to 500 people, so 2.5 hours isn't a bad time investment if it means people will get the message that the media seems to refuse to report.
I'll probably order many more boxes of "slim jims" and pass them out. $15 for 500 of these is 3 cents each. Though to be fair, I also paid $19 shipping for the first 1,000 and $12 shipping for the next 1,000, so it's more like 4.6 cents each if my math is correct. I can't say for sure that people aren't tossing these without reading them, but we all need to put in the effort if we want Ron Paul to win the Republican nomination. It's a small price to pay for freedom, right?
Ron Paul is like the Fonz. How can you not like the guy? If you don't know him, get to know him!
I haven't ordered any bumper stickers or yard signs yet, but I am planning on it after a few more paychecks come in.

First, not all of the points you listed are representative of an actual VOTE in Congress; some are the viewpoints of a caucus (ex., "Abolish the … [US] Department of Education" is a statement from the Republican Liberty Caucus) or the rephrased question in a debate (specifically: "Eliminate FBI & DHS" is derived from Fox News' Chris Wallace's question to Ron Paul in the University of New Hampshire debate).
You may consider that a point in symantics, but if you're going to cut 'n' paste items from a website, you should make sure they follow your argument.
Second, you list "No border fence", as a position, but not only do you not cite a date, you are incorrect in stating this as a position by Dr. Paul. In fact - quoting www.ontheissues.org - it states that he "Voted YES on building a fence along the Mexican border. (Sep 2006)" This refers to Bill HR6061 to which he voted in favor of.
Third, if you really want to know where Dr. Paul stands, you should get them direct from his website, rather than via 3rd generation sources.

To be a delegate you will probably have to show support for the party which will be painful for some but it is a necessary evil that we must all endure to make the Ron Paul dream a reality. For all you people who still think Ron Paul is a side show, think again. Look at the money he raised, not bad for someone who is supported by a bunch of so called spammers.

Ron Paul is a true American,"This man is god sent"…"Any American who cares about the constitution should vote for this man",we only have one chance to get this country back to the way our founding fathers had wanted it!!Because if we let the Nafta,cafta,Nau,WTO,Icc,Gatt,UN.,or in that case the Patriot Act take over, you could kiss this great nation good bye..(HE HAS MY VOTE 100%)
