A Gem Of An Animation Film, by Chris Lambeth

I must thank Bob (The 13th) for this link. As a Canadian, I knew nothing about either Larkin of Lambeth, although they both made the Oscars in the animation category. Nice to be educated about our own by a considerate American neighbor. This is awesome, for lack of a better descriptor.

Thank you Jacques for following thru! This is but a clip of the full film, "Ryan" - details of which can be found via the U.S. Public Broadcasting System and (probably) most large DVD distributors. I also would not be surprised if it was sponsored in part by the GREAT (!!!) National Film Board of Canada.

Some socialism works quite well. Like with your NPR, politicos threaten to put the hatchet in the NFB every four years. This has been going on for as long as I can remember. Yet THE PEOPLE keep wanting to keep it, even though a tiny minority sees any of its production. Go figure. Once a socialist, always a socialist. Like with health care. Try to find a Brit, a Frenchman or a Canuck that wants to do away with it!

Do you really have panhandlers in Canada? How come???

It's the drugs, baby, the drugs. This guy Larkin hade a coke habit that he maintained through his cancer chemotherapy and ultimate death. We the taxpayers dont go that far. Shit they get thrills we don't get, so why finance it. We jealous.

Added note per panhandling: the film Ryan is about Ryan's own choice to become a panhandler. It was his version of being "closer to the people." The filmmaker makes the case that it was creative implosion (trying to top his own works), inability (or lack of desire) to play with a team, and subsequently the drugs that led Larkin to panhandle.

I don't want think Larkin's problems can be sourced exclusively to drugs. His own production team avoided him for years. The maker of the film (an acclaimed animator himself) worried the same fate.

Pardon me. Did not realize you found the whole film, J. Hehee! Ok, fans - it looks MUCH better at full resolution. Rent or buy, it's worth the eye candy of Lambeth's work.

I won't say same of Metallica's copyright tizzies.

The art is incredibly imaginative and
touching; it gripped me in the gut. Can't watch it again

Old Enuf - I feel the same per the film. It's great but draws me to a corner where the monkey is chained to the organ grinder.

Matchsticks for sale. Only 13 sense.

it'd be great to walk around SL with an avatar like that. Man I'd love that!
